I recently saw a documentary on Channel 4 (http://www.channel4.com/programmes/the-worlds-oldest-mums - not sure if it's still available to watch), and the 72 year old was on there. She kept saying to the doctors, and for that matter anyone who would listen, that she wasn't being selfish. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. I simply don't understand that. She makes the argument that she spent her life doing Zoology and didn't have time to find a man and have children, and *now* she is ready for it. Well, surely that's her problem then? She's entirely complicit in the situation, hell, she caused it! What gives her any right to do this now? Much like my response to recent reports that egg donors in Britain should be paid to enable more IVF to take place: a child is not right.

As for the woman who died: I believe her brother and his wife are looking after her now orphaned twins. Some life huh?

As I mentioned before (as have others), I've been called "selfish" for not wanting babies. Some of the people who would give me a hard time for being so "selfish" would turn around and give this old woman credit for her "gift of life." This attitude--I find it extremely aggravating: a case like this, I think, epitomizes selfishness. Sure, yep! You bet, some gift. One guy who I follow on Twitter suggested that this woman probably KNEW she had cancer at the time she underwent IVF. I think I might agree with this.

Of course, no reputable doctor would do IVF on a woman with cancer, never mind one who was so old. Some of these docs are just in it for the money, and fuck all else.

Not only is she wasting an enormous amount of money, she is dooming her potential kid to growing up an orphan, because we see how well this shit worked out for the Spanish geezer breeder who just dropped dead.

I like how she has planned for that eventuality by shoving the responsibility of raising the kid onto a younger friend, who I'm sure would be just thrilled to inherit such a nightmare.

Those dopes who defended her saying that she couldnt plan clearly arent paying attention to the whole story. She CLEARLY planned that shit out (probably to be a fucking tabloid queen for a little while) by:
1-SELLING HER HOUSE
2-DOING IVF, since she, as well as anyone with more than 2 brain cells to rub together (which seems to be a problem in these circles) can clearly tell a 66 yr old cant get pregnant naturally.
