So many of these Mother and...

Same case in Britain. So many of these Mother and Baby or pregnant spaces are popping up. Not only are they nearer to the shop, but they're also much wider than usual. Of course, if you happen to be the person who parks in a normal space next to one of these because there are no other spaces left, the extra width of the bay means nothing. You still get your car dented and scratched because they feel they're entitled to not bother looking or respecting other people's property.

I have a genetic disease, but it doesn't entitle me to any help or parking nearer the store. Some days I cannot get up from a sitting or lying position easily - it's agony, but I have no choice. No-one else is going look after me. I just have to suck it up, shut the fuck up and deal with it. I didn't choose my genes, yet people choose to get pregnant. Grr!

On the issue of seats on the subway, I started a cunning plan a few years back. Every time I use the Underground in London I wear a massive knee brace. If I see someone getting on that is in a wheelchair (and thus needs to be nearer the doors) or on crutches or is elderly, then I will gladly give up my seat for them. If a pregnant woman gives me the look, she ain't getting a seat. I was so pissed a few years back when London Underground started issuing pregnant women with badges encouraging people to give up their seats for them. If it's that much of an issue, take a freaking taxi, how is it sensible to be crammed into a carriage with 200 other people if you're about to drop a sprog?

@Michele (Currently):

I knew I'd be assuming her duties when she went on maternity leave at the end of this month, but last Wednesday her doctor ordered her on IMMEDIATE bedrest (due to her pre-existing condition of morbid obesity, diabetes, and high blood pressure). Why this person (who also has a history of mental illness among several members of her family) and her husband thought it was a imperative for them to have their own child (they underwent IVF treatments) is beyond me. Selfishness and narcissism come to mind. Oh, and she had no less than FIVE baby showers!!!

Anyway, I had to cancel my vacation out of town last weekend so I could stay and do her work as well as mine (even harder than it should have been, since now she's not there to train me). I now might lose the vacation time, because I won't have time to use it before the end of the year. One other co-worker had the gall to suggest I donate my unused vacation time to preggers. NO WAY! I'll forfeit the time before I give her one single minute of it! Oh, and the topper: she had the nerve to email me at work and ask me to send her the home addresses of all our coworkers so she could send shower thank you cards. She said, "I realize you might be busy..." Gee, YA THINK??!!!!

Thanks for letting me vent; there's only one other person at work who's sympathetic.

My husband has a torn miniscus ?? in his knee (and...

My husband has a torn miniscus ?? in his knee (and probably the other one too - he just needs to get that one looked at.
Basically his knees are shot to the point that he is in very noticeable pain while doing anything involving bending his knees ever so slightly these days. Still, it has helped me to get closer to some long distance friends, so I like it for that.

Just be sure to dump anyone you find really annoying. They won't get a notification that you dumped them, but they might notice you are gone if they look specifically for you on their friends list. (Most people have such large lists, though, they probably won't catch on.) You can also block them from trying to recontact you (which I've had to do) and even block people from searching for and finding you (which is nice to keep away strange relatives and people from high school that you haven't seen in umpteen years).

I dumped almost all relatives, all right-wingers, anyone who talked endlessly about their kids and anyone who never interacted with me, and I just keep my facebook list small.
